Police arrested two suspects accused of stealing over $1,000 worth of merchandise from multiple retailers in North Austin shopping centers.
Omar Cuellar Sanchez, 43, and Dailena Rodriguez Herrera, 27, were arrested on Nov. 22, according to the Austin Police Department. The arrests came during a "shoplifting blitz" conducted by APD's North Metro Tactical Response Unit in collaboration with about 20 local retailers. The operation focused on major shopping areas including The Domain, Arbor Walk, Gateway and Arboretum.Store loss prevention staff reported the suspects were removing anti-theft devices and concealing stolen shoes and wallets in their clothing.
A subsequent search of the suspects' vehicle revealed three shopping bags containing additional merchandise with tags from Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross, police said. The total value of recovered goods was approximately $1,000. Both suspects were charged with Class B theft. Police are asking anyone with additional information to contact
