A man accused of posing as a U.S. postal worker and forcing his way into a Seattle home is now jailed on $1 million bail.

A man accused of posing as a U.S. postal worker and forcing his way into a Seattle home is now jailed on $1 million bail as investigators look into what police believe may have been a foiled extortion plot.

Seattle police arrested 31-year-old Ian Blair last week. Court documents describe the attack on Friday afternoon at a home on the 300 block of North 74th Street in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood.Police said Blair delivered a letter to the home, and the victim told investigators it appeared to be from a law firm connected to an ongoing lawsuit the victim is involved in. According to court documents, “The letter was an attempt to extort cryptocurrency from the victim in exchange for information he could use in an ongoing lawsuit.” Witnesses told investigators that Blair then pushed his way inside the home and assaulted the victim and the victim’s wife when she tried to intervene. Others nearby reported hearing screams for help, calling 911, and trying to stop the struggle before police arrived. “There was a firetruck down here and three police cars up there when I looked out, and we saw them take someone out in a stretcher, and it looked like the police were walking a man out," Peter Kahle, who lives nearby, said.Investigators said Blair was wearing a Tyvek suit under what appeared to be a USPS uniform when he was arrested.Police said they found several items in his bag, including a cell phone jammer, Faraday bags, Gorilla tape, zip ties, plastic bags, and gloves — evidence they say points to a larger, targeted plan. Blair had a text on his phone that appeared to show he may have been communicating with someone else about the plan, according to police. According to court records, the text said something to the effect of "Prius is here," appearing to refer to the victims' vehicle in the driveway. “That’s so bizarre because this is a really quiet street," Kahle said. "That’s the first time I’ve seen anything like this in this neighborhood.”Police said the investigation is ongoing into what Blair was ultimately planning to do and whether anyone else was involved.A 30-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the killing of his mother after deputies found her dead inside an Auburn condominium.New data shows the state of Washington is still struggling to attract and retain police officers. As a precaution, Public Health is recommending that about 130 people associated with the school be evaluated for TB.Messages such as “proudly made by a woman winemaker” can increase women’s intentions to purchase wine — particularly when paired with feminine imagery like flow
