Polestar is gearing up for a significant expansion of its model lineup in the coming years. While the brand will continue to introduce new SUVs like the 3 and 4, and the fastback 5, which is set to launch later this year, the model that has car enthusiasts eagerly anticipating its arrival is the Polestar 6. Polestar spokesperson Mike Ofiara revealed the brand's upcoming launch sequence, stating that the 7 SUV and the highly anticipated Polestar 6 will follow the 5.
The Polestar 6, a two-seat sports car reminiscent of the original Tesla Roadster, promises thrilling performance. Ofiara confirmed that the production version will retain the retractable hardtop concept showcased by the Polestar Precept. Constructed on a shortened version of the bonded aluminum platform debuting in the 5, the Polestar 6 will boast an 800-volt charging system similar to its sibling. With anticipated figures of 663 lb-ft of torque, a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph, the Polestar 6 is poised to be a formidable competitor in the electric sports car segment. Reservations for the Polestar 6 are expected to open in a few months, marking a significant milestone for the brand. Interestingly, the Polestar 7, positioned as the brand's entry-level model, is also slated for production in Europe, circumventing the substantial tariffs currently imposed on Polestar's Chinese-manufactured vehicles. This strategic decision, coupled with an SUV body style and entry-level pricing, suggests that the Polestar 7 has the potential to achieve greater sales volumes and profitability compared to its more specialized sibling, the Polestar 6.
