Polestar Expects To Boost Sales By 80% This Year Following A Record 2022 | Carscoops carscoops
Last year, the Swedish car manufacturer sold roughly 51,500 vehicles around the world, roughly 21,000 of which were sold in the fourth quarter. This represents an 80 percent increase year-on-year, making 2022 the best year enjoyed by Polestar in its short existence.
Sales are tipped to climb a further 60 percent throughout 2023 which should bring them as high as 80,000 units. “I’m proud of the many milestones we achieved in 2022 and in particular the massive team effort that went into delivering our strongest quarter to date – surpassing our 50,000 global volumes target for the year,” Polestar chief executive Thomas Ingenlath said in a statement. “We are now fully focused on 2023.
The Polestar 3 is shaping up to be a particularly important vehicle for the company’s global expansion. It is much more expensive and premium than the current Polestar 2 sedan and positioned as a rival to traditional SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne as well as all-electric alternatives such as the Rivian R1S.models come fitted with a pair of electric motors that produce a combined 483 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque.
