Temperatures to plummet below zero in Cleveland, Akron as Arctic air mass descends early next week.
Published: Jan. 17, 2025, 3:38 a.m.cleveland.comCLEVELAND, Ohio — Temperatures today and Saturday will reach the mid-30s in Northeast Ohio. Residents should make a point of enjoying it, because it will seem downright balmy compared to what is coming.
And it gets no better on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Cleveland and Akron, the high will be around 4 degrees on Tuesday, but hey, it should be mostly sunny. The overnight lows could dip to between minus-9 and minus-12 degrees. Highs on Wednesday again will stay in the single digits. “These are the types of weather systems that even bring cold air to Florida,” Fox Weather meteorologist Britta Merwin said.. “You know, there’s only maybe one or two times a year where we get a chunk of arctic air that really invades the country and gets all the way down to the Gulf Coast. This is one of those. So, if you’re a snowbird, you like to escape down to the South – there’s no escaping this. Everyone will feel it.
