I have written about technology for over a decade, with a focus on everything you might wear, put in a pocket or fit in a bag. Subjects I cover include mobile phones, fitness tech, computing and cameras.

It’s a follow-up to the Polar Grit X Pro from 2021, and brings the features of the Polar Vantage V3 to a more rugged, adventure-ready watch design.

The Polar Grit X2 Pro has on-watch maps, and can download huge chunks of map data to its 32GB storage for offline use. European and North American maps come preinstalled. The Garmin Epix Pro also has better music features. Where that watch can download and store tracks from Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music , the Polar Grit X2 Pro will only control tracks being played on a connected phone. Both watches can take an ECG reading, which monitors your heart rhythm to look for abnormalities. Except only the Garmin actually looks for such abnormalities so far. The Polar Grit X2 Pro will only record the data, which can be exported as a PDF to show to your doctor.
