The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket's new trading system has been met with widespread criticism from players who find it unnecessarily complex and frustrating.

Players of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket are expressing widespread dissatisfaction with the newly implemented trading system, claiming it to be overly complex and frustrating. Since its launch last week, the game's community has taken to platforms like Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and the official game site to voice their collective disapproval. Pocket , a free-to-play mobile adaptation of the beloved physical card game, had been missing a key feature: trading.

This allowed players to swap cards and complete their decks, a staple of the franchise since its inception on the Game Boy. The highly anticipated trading feature finally arrived, but instead of the seamless experience players expected, they encountered a system riddled with convoluted mechanics.Trades in Pocket require stamina, which regenerates over time or can be replenished using items. Additionally, players need Trade Tokens, which are harder to come by. These tokens can be earned through special events or by sacrificing cards to obtain items. Some cards can only be used if a player possesses multiples of them, creating a bottleneck for those lacking a diverse collection. For players without a surplus of cards, the quickest way to acquire new ones is through in-app purchases, further fueling the frustration. The complexity doesn't end there. Trades are restricted to cards of equal rarity, indicated by the number of diamonds a card possesses. There's no provision for communication between players to discuss desired trades, leaving players to make offers and accept or reject them blindly. This often necessitates abandoning the game and seeking out trading partners on external platforms like Reddit or the official game forums. The Pokémon Company International acknowledged the significant player feedback, stating that the restrictions were implemented to prevent abuse from bots and maintain a fair environment. They emphasized their commitment to balancing the game and preserving the core experience of card collecting. To address player concerns, the company plans to increase the availability of trading tokens in the future. Despite these assurances, the initial response to the trading system has been overwhelmingly negative, with many players threatening to cancel their premium subscriptions and actively engaging in online discussions to demand improvements.
