Pokemon Pokopia player character standing next to a swimming pool
Once you start really getting into the decorating part of Pokémon Pokopia, one of the most useful abilities you have available to you is waterscaping. Making gorgeous waterfalls, swimming pools, lakes, and even the perfect watery habitats for your Pokémon can elevate your worlds, but it's actually surprisingly easy to miss the quest that even teaches you how to suck up and move water in the first place.
Then, after you have it, learning you can make hot water, lava, and more can make things even more exciting. Creativity can run wild in Pokémon Pokopia, and making use of decorating tips and tricks for endgame designs can help inspire you to make your islands your own. Whether you try your hand at making a massive swimming pool, a watery home for Magikarp, or just enjoy the look of waterfalls surrounding your home, the possibilities are nearly endless. First Learn The Ability To Suck Up Water To Move It Waterscaping Ability Comes From Wooper Although Squirtle's ability to spit out water is the first thing we learn in Pokémon Pokopia, Wooper's skill at sucking up and moving water comes very late in the game . After you've completed the important request in Bleak Beach to brighten up the area and have met Lapras and learned the transformation to Surf, Piplup will have another quest that can be started. You will know Piplup is ready for you when they have a speech bubble around their head as they walk around. Piplup will then lead you to an area near the gate leading into Bleak Beach and will tell you how this would be a perfect spot for a waterfall to play in. After noting that you can't make a waterfall, they will ask you to talk to a Paldean Wooper who can show you how to inhale water and hold it in your body to spit out wherever you want for an endlessly flowing source of magical water. If you don't have Paldean Wooper yet, they are lured to a"marshy tall grass" habitat, which must be in the muddy water area very close to where Piplup wants the waterfall. Paldean Wooper will teach you that when you are standing in water you can press ZR while holding down Y to inhale it. You can then go wherever you want the water to be created and spit it out to make a flowing water source. When spitting it out, you can also hold ZL to control the height of the water level. Different Water Types Come From Vending Machine Drinks Seawater, Muddy Water, Hot Water, And Even Lava Now that you know how to inhale water for waterscaping techniques, the vending machines in Bleak Beach become much more important. These vending machines will give you the chance for one of several bottled drinks, although only once per day. When you drink these drinks, they will essentially cause you to have inhaled specific types of water that can be placed where you'd like. Of course, in order to use the vending machines, they must be connected to a power source. Fresh water is also used for making soup, so it is generally better to save that for soups and just get basic water from around the environment if you want it. Use Your Imagination With Waterfalls Placement It Doesn't Have To Just Be Traditional Waterfalls Making use of heights for waterfall-type situations in Pokémon Pokopia doesn't have to be limited to traditional waterfalls, although those are beautiful on their own. Use this to make tiered waterslides over steps, a source of flowing water into a swimming pool, or even a little lava eruption. Wherever you have the water flow, it is a good idea to prep the space first. Unless it is walled off in some way, water will spread in a large area. It will be much easier to see what you're doing when you build up walls, dig the lake bottom, or make the irrigation ditch for farms if you prep them before you place the water. Make Use Of Items Like Fountains, Showers, And Pool Floats Decorations Can Go A Long Way As you continue to level up each area and expand the catalog of items in the PC store, there are many crafting recipes and items that can be wonderful for enhancing a water area. Fountains, like the one that is already found in Withered Wasteland, pool floats, beach chairs, and more are perfect for making a simple lake become a focal point. Another great option is to scavenge in Bleak Beach, particularly on the massive cruise ship, for furniture items that would look great in your dream area. If you want to create a swimming pool, resort, or hot spring, many of the items sitting around just waiting for you to take could prove to be the perfect pieces to complete the look. With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility Learn From My Mistakes, Or Maybe My Genius? One word of caution, or perhaps advice, with this ability can be taken from a beginner mistake that I made in my Withered Wasteland. As you may be aware, there are some Pokémon who continuously complain that their homes aren't humid enough. In the case of Slowbro, no matter how many humidifiers, showers, and tubs I added to his house, he wasn't happy. Then I had the possibly brilliant idea of seeing if I could make the tub in his house have more water using the Wooper water ability. Turns out, the water does not simply stay in the tub using this technique and instead has flooded his house. Whenever the front door is opened, the nearby area floods until the doors are closed again. Although Slowbro is ecstatic about the development and is finally loving his home, so, I suppose it really was a success. Whether you want to avoid making my mistake or use this as a creative way of making the perfect habitat is up to you, but it at least proves just how much is possible with waterscaping in Pokémon Pokopia. 10/10 Pokemon Pokopia Like Follow Followed Life Simulation Simulation OpenCritic Reviews Top Critic Avg: 90/100 Critics Rec: 98% Released March 5, 2026 ESRB Everyone / Users Interact, In-Game Purchases Developer Koei Tecmo, Game Freak Publisher Nintendo, The Pokemon Company Multiplayer Online Multiplayer 5 Images Close
