With the Pokémon 30th anniversary taking place this year, it is an amazing time to be a fan of the Nintendo franchise. Just today, it was announced that Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen would be heading to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and we even received news that the big Gen 10 reveal may be just around the corner.
It is safe to assume that plenty of more reveals are on the way, but if you cannot wait to get stuck into the official projects being released this year, you may want to check out the next best thing: Pokémon Decay. Pokémon Decay Is A Massive New Experience Pokémon Decay is an extensive ROM hack which creates a brand-new RPG by combining some of the best in the first four generations of Pokémon into one incredible game. Set in the Talem region, Pokémon Decay is intended to make the player feel nostalgic for some of the original Pokémon titles by putting an emphasis on some of the earliest storylines. The game begins when the player wakes up with no memory of an event which caused Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh to collide and become one: the Talem Region. Now, it is up to you to work out what happened to cause this disaster, all whilst battling eight Gym Leaders, as well as the Elite Four. Across the Talem Region, players will discover all manner of Pokémon from the first four generations of the franchise. Later evolutions are also featured, but for self-preservation reasons, they have needed to adapt to their new surroundings. Now they are known as Delta Species and there are 131 to find as well as 40 evolutions and pre-evolutions. There Are So Many Pokémon ROM Hacks Out There There may be many ROM hacks out there to choose from with over 30-years' worth of Pokémon games to adapt, but Pokémon Decay features over 25+ hours of gameplay, mechanics from up to Gen 8, new moves and abilities, customizable outfits, and even post-game facilities such as Emerald's Battle Frontier. Of course, a Nuzlocke mode has also been added for those hardcore players out there.
