The Pokémon Company is implementing new measures to combat the frustrating problem of resellers hoarding Pokémon Trading Card Game products. A virtual queue system has been introduced on the Pokémon Center website, ensuring fairer access for fans during restocks.
Collecting Pokémon Trading Card Game products can sometimes be frustrating due to resellers quickly purchasing available stock both online and in physical stores. While the Pokémon Center website offers a direct purchase option from The Pokémon Company, many products sell out rapidly. However, The Pokémon Company is taking steps to address this issue. Last week, a new queue system was introduced on the Pokémon Center website during restocks of popular Pokémon TCG products.
This system forces users to wait in a virtual line, and leaving the page or refreshing will result in losing their place. Although The Pokémon Company hasn't explicitly stated the queue system's purpose, it's clear that it's aimed at preventing resellers from sweeping up all the stock. This initiative isn't the only solution The Pokémon Company is pursuing. They are actively battling resellers in Costco locations and working with retailers like Target and Walmart to curb their practices. These retailers, however, will have to implement their own strategies for change. The surge in Pokémon TCG popularity is likely due to several factors, including the recent success of the Pokémon animated series. In the past, similar waves of excitement have subsided, so it's possible that the current fervor will eventually moderate. The Pokémon Company hopes that their efforts will make the experience smoother for fans when the next TCG set launches next month. This upcoming set will feature over 180 cards translated into English for the first time and the return of Trainer's Pokémon to the game, appealing to both new and longtime fans
