A teenage boy suffered burns when he was too scared to leave his bedroom as a fire tore through his house in Melbourne’s southwest. The two-storey house on Willowherb Way in Point Cook went up in flames at 7am on Tuesday with a father and four children still inside it.
Blaze tears through Melbourne home. The fire is believed to have started in the downstairs study, and the 60-year-old man and three children made their way to the rear of the house once they were alerted by the smoke alarm. But the 15-year-old boy was too afraid of the fire to come downstairs. “It was quite hectic. There was a child still inside the building when we arrived,” Steve Attard from Fire Rescue Victoria said. Fire crews rescued the teenager and walked him out of the house to safety.
