Scott Morrison is set to unveil plans to build a $10 billion military base on the east coast as he warns of a “new arc of autocracy” challenging the global order.
Mr Morrison will identify Brisbane, Newcastle and Port Kembla as the preferred locations for the new base in a speech to the Lowy Institute on Monday.

Picture: NCA NewsWire However, Defence Minister Peter Dutton has said there will be an announcement “within the next couple of months” on whether Australia will acquire the US or UK boats.
“This is not a world we want for us, our neighbours or our region. It’s certainly not a world we want for our children,” he will say.
