Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has stuck the boot into the Greens as he announced the Labor candidate for a Queensland electorate held by the minor party.

"Many Queenslanders who voted for the Greens political party at the last election are telling me that they're disappointed," Mr Albanese told reporters. "They've combined with the Coalition to vote against the build-to-rent scheme. They have deferred again a vote on the help-to-buy scheme." Labor's primary vote slumped two per cent in Griffith, while it was down 2.1 per cent in Ryan. The party increased its primary vote by 2.8 per cent in Brisbane.
