Anthony Albanese has declared Australia has the most competitive airline market in the world and shrugged off a growing split in Labor over his government’s decision to block extra Qatar Airways flights.during the pandemic and said Qatar Airways “should have been backed when it came to their request for extra routes in Australia”.
Meanwhile, Qantas on Monday issued a statement apologising for falling short of customer expectations and admitting it would “take time” to rebuild its reputation.“We think that more flights with Qatar is a great opportunity for WA, and we think they should have been backed when it came to their request for extra routes in Australia,” he said on a trip to Jarkarta.
Mr Miles didn’t find much support among his fellow Queenslanders in the federal Parliament on Monday, however, many of whom simply echoed Mr Albanese’s suggestion that Qatar could already add more flights. Mr Albanese and Mr Watt did not mention that Qantas does not fly international flights into Adelaide, Cairns or Darwin – destinations the government, and Qantas, have suggested Qatar is free to fly.
it had already cancelled for an average of two weeks, as well as allegations it is hoarding slots at the country’s busiest airport.
