KUALA LUMPUR: I am happy to be back after 25 years, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after attending MCA’s Chinese New Year open house.
"I met a lot of old friends," he said while thanking MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong for the invitation.
"MCA is an old friend and it is good that the friendship remained despite different parties and differing views from time to time. Now we are back," he told reporters on the sidelines of MCA’s Chinese New Year Open House at Wisma MCA here on Sunday . Anwar said there was now common ground between the two, adding that the priority was the economy and development.
This was the first time Anwar has attended the do since his sacking as deputy prime minister in 1998. Anwar, who arrived at 9.25am in a red batik, was welcomed by Dr Wee, party deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Han Soon, MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon and other top party leaders.
