Ban any future testing in Pennsylvania on cats and dogs.
Last January we lost our beloved beagle, Ellie Mae, and when the PA Humane Society mentioned there were 4,000 beagles looking for homes from the closure of a breeding facility in Virginia, we took a chance.
Since then, Archie has peed on every rug in our house. He’s chomped through our TV remote. He chewed up my computer mouse. He takes books from our bookshelf upstairs, races down the stairs and out the back door, and prances around the yard with them. Archie howls at the mailman, scares the cat away, sleeps between us every night, and is learning a few basic commands. He believes in his heart that everything in life is a chew toy. He leaps into the air to try to catch butterflies. He barks at squirrels, and lunges at rabbits.
In other words, Archie is all dog. Archie is a family pet. He is not a lab animal. I sometimes shudder at the thought that this bundle of energy would have spent the rest of his life in a cage being subjected to tests. Archie is one of the lucky ones, and we applaud the bipartisan effort to ensure that no dog or cat in the future faces such a grim and joyless existence for benefits that are not even well proven.
Please ask your legislator to support Senate Bill 658, to ban any future testing in Pennsylvania on cats and dogs. Archie thanks you too.If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
