The game will launch worldwide with a variety of special editions. These include the Digital Deluxe Edition, which has 10 unique suits, and the $229.99 Collector's Edition, which also comes with a steelbook display case and a collectible statue. The statue features both heroes attacking Venom from above and was the first proper indicator of how large Insomniac's take on the character is.
Whether this was intentionally meant to be an innuendo, or merely a poor choice of words when referring to the 19-inch statue of Venom is unknown, but it has certainly spurred many comments online, with "19 INCHES OF WHAT?" trending on Twitter for most of the day. While Insomniac Games' own Community and Marketing Director, James Stevenson simply replied "I have so many comments", others such as Broseidon shared the Anakin and Padme Star Wars meme with the caption "You mean the figurine, right?".
Whether the undertones of PlayStation's post were intentional or not, it has certainly got people talking about the product, meaning that from a purely marketing perspective, it's definitely achieved its goal - not that the title needed much more hype. It is already one of PlayStation's most anticipated first-party titles in 2023.
