PlayStation’s Access Controller goes on sale this December

. The Access Controller, as it has been christened, is designed to help players with physical disabilities better enjoy games on Sony’s PS5 console.

The Access Controller is expected to begin shipping to players on 6th December, with pre-orders for the peripheral opening up on 21st July in selected regions. At the time of writing, it is unclear if this includes South Africa, but much like the PlayStation VR2, SA has not lagged too far behind its global counterparts when it comes to availability.Button layout for the PlayStation Access Controller.

“The Access controller lets you customize your layout with different button and stick caps in various shapes and designs, operate the controller from any 360° orientation, and connect third-party accessibility accessories using its four industry-standard 3.5mm expansion ports,” highlighted PlayStation of the new peripheral in a blog post.

“On your PS5 console, there are many settings for the Access controller that you can configure to meet your needs. You can map buttons to create up to 30 control profiles, adjust stick settings, toggle commands on/off, or disable buttons altogether to stop accidental pressing. You can even pair up to two Access controllers and one DualSense wireless controller together and use them collaboratively,” it added.
