Playa at Sportsman Marina, the Orange Beach restaurant opened five years ago by five-time James Beard-nominated Chef Bill Briand, is closing, the establishment announced Wednesday.
Playa is shuttering its doors so management can focus on Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina, the eatery’s sister restaurant. “We would like to first say, how much we have greatly appreciated our Orange Beach and Gulf Coast community over the past 5 years,” Playa said on its Facebook page. “Unfortunately, it is time to shut our doors for good. We have decided as a company to focus our talent and energy on our sister restaurant, and restaurateur Johnny Fisher partnered to open Playa, their third restaurant, in 2018.
