San Antonio's Historic and Design Review Commission has approved conceptual design plans for The Jerk Shack owners' new restaurant location in the Schultze House at Hemisfair.
Hemisfair leaders announced Wednesday conceptual designs from The Jerk Shack and Mi Roti co-owners Lattoia Massey, aka Chef Nicola Blaque, and her husband, Cornelius Massey, to renovate the historic Schultze House on East Nueva Street have been approved. Located near the bustling energy of Yanaguana Gardens andThis is a rendering of the upcoming Port Royal at Hemisfair.
"This will be the district’s ninth food and beverage operator and we are over the moon about Chef Nicola and her team joining the Hemisfair family," Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair, said in the release."As a Hemisfair has cultivated a foodie destination within the district — and we couldn’t be more excited to add another delicious layer to our culinary offerings."The Port Royal concept will add Caribbean flairs such as rum barrels and Lignum vitae, the national flower of Blaque's native Jamaica, to the space, while retaining the home's historic characteristics. The two-story building will include balcony seating and patio space for outdoor seating surrounded by the park environment.
The Jerk Shack's fried chicken was named the No. 1 fried chicken in San Antonio by Express-News restaurant critic Mike Sutter.
