MANILA—The Department of Health on Saturday urged the public to work out at home amid concerns exercising outside could lead to detention for violating strict lockdown rules.
“Sa tuwing iminumungkahi namin na mag-exercise para palakasin ang ating resistensiya, ang ibig naming sabihin dito ay ehersisyo sa loob ng ating bahay hangga’t makakaya,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a televised briefing.
As the government keeps the lockdown in place, millions of Filipinos are ordered to stay home for another 2 weeks and can only go out for essential runs in a bid to rein in the spread of COVID-19. “Ayon sa IATF guidelines natin tungkol sa general community quarantine, isa ang fitness center na mananatiling nakasara dahil sa posibilidad na baka doon kumalat ang impeksiyon,” Vergerie said.
