A small plane crash ed in a remote area of South Sudan on Wednesday, tragically claiming the lives of at least 18 people. The aircraft, chartered by Chinese oil company Greater Pioneer Operating Co. , was carrying 21 individuals, including two pilots, according to Gatwech Bipal, the minister of information in Unity state, where the incident occurred. The plane was attempting to take off from near an oil field en route to Juba, the capital of South Sudan , when it crashed.

While the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the victims. Local media reports indicate that the plane was transporting oil workers. South Sudan, which achieved independence from Sudan in 2011, is a significant oil producer in the region.
