If you would like alerts on this and other ADOT news, sign up above to receive our GovDelivery notices.The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers, area residents and businesses that a section of State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon will be intermittently closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday night, Sept. 27, to Wednesday morning, Sept. 28.
SR 89A will be closed intermittently to traffic through the switchback portion of the roadway north and south of the Pumphouse Wash Bridge between mileposts 387 - 389. The 15-minute, non-consecutive full closures will occur twice per hour between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Tuesday night, Sept. 27, to Wednesday morning, Sept. 28.
Drivers should be prepared to stop and use caution around construction personnel and equipment - or consider using an alternate route - while the overnight closures are in place. The restrictions are needed so crews can continue working on the bridge rehabilitation portion of the SR 89A Oak Creek Canyon Improvements project, which also includes rockfall mitigation and erosion control work.Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
