Plainfield residents asked to shelter-in-place due to barricade incident; large SWAT, police presence on scene
Road closures were also in place and included north and southbound Drauden Road and Canton Farm in Will CountySome residents in suburban Plainfield were asked to shelter-in-place Friday morning after a man barricaded himself inside a home, the Will County Sherriff's Office said. About 9:41 a.m., officers received a call from a female who stated she was in the 25000 block of Dina Court in Plainfield Township who had run out of a home after an incident had taken place. An hour later, police said a man had barricaded himself inside the residence.A perimeter was set up around the area, with a large police presence with officers from Plainfield police, Joliet police and SWAT, the Sheriff's office said.
Residents within the perimeter and the surrounding area were advised to shelter-in-place, the Sheriff's office said, with officers conducting reverse 911-calls and going door-to-door. Schools nearby were notified and taking appropriate measures, the Sheriff's office added.Road closures were also in place and included north and southbound Drauden Road and Canton Farm.
