The Indera Mahkota PKR division said that Saifuddin’s win was due to the blessing of then party president Dr Wan Azizah.
Following Indera Mahkota MP Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah’s decision to leave PKR, the division that once supported him is now demanding that he relinquish the parliamentary seat.
The Indera Mahkota PKR division said in a statement that Saifuddin’s win in Indera Mahkota was due to the blessing of then party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the division machinery’s help during the 14th General Election. “His betrayal of the voters’ mandate has not only upset voters in the parliamentary constituency but also damaged the image of PKR, ” the division said after an emergency meeting recently.Indera Mahkota PKR chief Lee Chean Chung, who is the Semambu assemblyman, said the division would withdraw all cooperation and support for those who had left the party.
Saifuddin was previously an Umno member and was the Temerloh MP until his defeat by PAS’ Nasrudin Hassan in the 2013 elections.In the last election, he contested the Indera Mahkota parliamentary seat and won with a 10,950-vote majority.According to news reports, Saifuddin had allegedly joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
