Preston named among cheapest cities for a 12' pepperoni pizza - and we found one for less than seven quid
In a cost of living crisis, a cheap takeaway - that is also top quality - is ever more important. So when we heard Preston had bagged the third place title for having the cheapest takeaways in the UK, we couldn't have been happier.
At a time when everything is so expensive, knowing you can treat yourself with a Friday night takeaway without breaking the bank makes all the difference. January is always a tough month regardless of the current financial market and while most will sticking to strict diets and reduced spending habits, sometimes we need a pick me up.
According to Just Eat the growing city of Preston takes third place in the nationwide list with a takeaway priced at £6.25 on average. Not only does the city sell the UK’s third most-affordable chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, burger and chips but it also has the second lowest-priced 12” pepperoni pizza in the UK.One in eight Brits would pick pizza as their go-to takeaway according to Net Vouchers but with the cross-country average cost of a 12″ Pepperoni coming in at £9.
With that figure in mind, I took to the Just Eat app- already downloaded and raring to go- in search for the cheapest 12" Pepperoni in Preston I could find. It took far longer than I imagined and consisted of far too many moments of false hope seeing 'from £6' to then clicking and finding out it's in fact a 9" that comes with that price tag.Finally I found one, a takeaway that was selling a 12" Pepperoni pizza for £6.60.
When you're hungry and in the mood for something a bit naughty, and want simplicity and flavour, ditch the pricier frilled up pizza, because there's nothing wrong with a bog standard slice or two. Your bank account will thank you for it.
