Seattle Seahawks wide receiver John Ursua in action against the Denver Broncos during the second half of an NFL football preseason game, Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, in Seattle. The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver John Ursua for a workout on Tuesday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire. Ursua, who last played in the NFL in 2021, had pitched a reunion with Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson to the Steelers back in the summer.
“I’m kinda crossing my fingers, hoping. Me and Russ have a lot of chemistry, so I think it would make a lot of sense, but we’re going to have to wait and see.” Ursua has played in the Canadian Football League the last few seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and British Columbia Lions. He played with Wilson in Seattle from 2019 to 2021. Coming out of Hawaii in 2019 as an undrafted free agent, Ursua ran a 4.56 40-yard dash.
In his career, Ursua has just one reception for 11 yards and has worked primarily as a special teamer, even in Seattle. The Steelers still have an open spot on their practice squad, and the 30-year-old could potentially slot into that role., where our team of sports betting experts has reviewed the experience, payout speed, parlay options and quality of odds for multiple sportsbooks.
