The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed former Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Tykeem Doss off waivers.
Baltimore Ravens guard Tykeem Doss looks to make a block after a snap during an NFL preseason football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, in Tampa, Fla. Doss is listed at 6-foot-5, 378 pounds, and plays both tackle and guard. Yet, Doss played mostly left tackle last year for the Ravens after coming out of Southern Miss as an undrafted free agent.
Now, Doss should allow the Steelers enough players to shift Jones around to get left tackle reps if they so choose. For now, the Steelers are playing Dan Moore Jr. at left tackle while Jones plays right tackle,the alignment along the offensive line for much of the season. Spencer Anderson has started shiting out to tackle in recent days to help pick up the load left behind by Fautanu.
Doss is a massive tackle for that size and seems to fit Arthur Smith’s style of road-grading offensive linemen who are run-blocking first. That should allow Doss to make an impression on the Steelers as he pushes for a practice squad spot.
