The Pittsburgh-based specialty metals company is relocating to North Texas in pursuit of key flight, defense and oil industry players.
Although the company reported a $1.6 billion loss in 2020 and a $38.2 million loss in 2021, it reported a $35 million profit in the first three months of this year.
Coinciding with the relocation, ATI Inc. has swiftly updated its name and its email address, website and social media handles toThe rebranding removes ties to the Allegheny River that runs through Pittsburgh. It also matches the company’s longtime New York Stock Exchange symbol. “We’ve dropped ‘Allegheny Technologies Incorporated’ to go by what most already call us: ATI,” Gillespie said.
The company’s regulatory filing said the name change is designed to “better reflect its focus on producing high performance, highly specialized materials.”ATI Inc. told thethat “none” of its 1,500 employees who work in nine facilities in Western Pennsylvania will relocate to Dallas.
