Pittsburgh church damaged by fire after being struck by lightning during service
reported that St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, located on East Street in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill-City View neighborhood, was getting ready to begin Mass around 8:55 a.m. when the lighting hit.
Father Larry DiNardo told the news organization that the dome of the church suffered damage as did the church’s speaker and electrical systems.. Dispatch reported that one person had been taken to the hospital and the fire marshal had been contacted to investigate. Church board member Carol Hoover said the fire marshal told them a lightning strike had started the fire and it is unclear whether the building is a total loss.
