Mosimane says South Africa 'doesn't easily have the right type of players' to play in the English Premier League but West Africa has.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has shared his thoughts on why South African players struggle to make an impact abroad.players succeed overseas. Six years ago, Pitso allowed Percy Tau to play in English for Brighton and Hove Albion. The Bafana Bafana star struggled with the English Premier League before reuniting with ‘Jingles’ at Al Ahly in 2021.“Look, it is a concern for me and I was banking on Lyle Foster and now look what happened .

In the past 10 years, only two South African players played in the EPL and Mosimane wants that to change. He believes certain players are just made to cut it in tough leagues. “Watch the Nigeria team play South Africa, where is that flair or whatever? Mosimane asked. But those guys are playing for AC Milan and Napoli. Why is that?

“It’s because you must have the right product for the right market. Maybe we have the right product for the kasi flavour which is good. I don’t think there’s anybody who can beat us if there was a football tournament about that. We have the technique and skills but if you want the product to play at the World Cup maybe it’s Makgopa. Maybe he’s that kind of a player,” Pitso added.
