The Detroit Pistons, currently riding a wave of momentum, face off against the Brooklyn Nets, who are in the midst of a rebuilding process.
When the Pistons visited the Nets in Brooklyn back in early November, Detroit secured a comfortable 106-92 victory. At that time, the Nets roster looked significantly different. Dennis Schroder was the team's starting point guard, and veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith was still playing for Brooklyn. Since then, the Nets have been active in trades, sending Schroder to the Golden State Warriors and parting ways with Finney-Smith and former Piston Shake Milton to the Los Angeles Lakers.
This indicates the Nets are currently focused on rebuilding within the Eastern Conference. The Pistons can capitalize on this on Wednesday. They recently completed a successful trip out West, winning four out of five games against the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings, with their only loss coming against the Denver Nuggets. Back in Detroit for a homestand, the Pistons continued their strong performance, winning four consecutive games against the Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Portland Trail Blazers. Currently, the Pistons hold an 18-18 record, achieving a .500 record in January for the first time since 2018. Sitting at the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons have a one-game lead over the Chicago Bulls and trail the Indiana Pacers by half a game. In contrast, the Nets have dropped to the 12th seed with a 13-23 record, suffering a two-game losing streak and a 3-7 performance over their last 10 games
