was found guilty of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, by the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Lorch was arrested on September 7 in Midrand, Johannesburg, in 2020 and later released on R2 000 bail after an assault case was opened against him by his ex-girlfriend, Fundiswa Mathithibala. The incident reportedly took place at the soccer player’s home in Midrand.Mathithibala said she was visiting Lorch when he left her at his home to go out with his friend. She saw that it was getting late and messaged him to return her car keys.
Lorch, through his legal team, submitted representations to the senior public prosecutor and, after considering such representations, the SPP took a decision to provisionally withdraw the prosecution against Lorch. State prosecutor Michele Hart argued that the medical evidence corroborated the evidence of the complainant. The accused did not have any injuries which meant that he was the aggressor. The accused and his witness did not create a good impression in court and appeared to be not credible witnesses. We live in a world where facts and fiction get blurred
