Pirates winger Deon Hotto says his team will strive to win the Premiership title next season
Orlando and excel in the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers won two knock-out trophies last season but fell short in the league and Africa’s Premier Club competition. Pirates, who returned from their pre-season tour to Spain on Sunday, launched their 2024/25 kit at the Orlando stadium in Soweto this afternoon.The Buccaneers have done well in the last two seasons since the Spaniard Jose Riveiro took over, winning four knock-out competitions, MTN 8 and Nedbank Cup back to back.
But they have not won a league title in 12 seasons. Last season they finished second but 23 points behind reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, and it’s something winger Deon Hotto is hoping to address next season. Pirates winger, Deon Hotto ” We have won two major trophies the league was 23 points taking it this season we had major talks amongst each other for us it’s a project the coach just came in three seasons ago and we know what we want to achieve this season.”
The Buccaneers also disappointed in last season’s CAF Champions League. They lost to Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana in the preliminary round.
