Ini adalah kali pertama Barca gagal meraih tiga mata sejak liga kembali bersambung dan Real mampu untuk merampas kedudukan teratas hujung minggu ini.
Selepas mencatat kemenangan 3-0 ke atas Valencia Khamis lalu, pasukan Zinedine Zidane akan menyamai mata dengan The Catalan jika mereka mampu menumpaskan Real Sociedad awal pagi Isnin dan memintas mereka berdasarkan rekod pertemuan sesama sendiri. "Melihat apa yang kami sudah lakukan dalam dua perlawanan terakhir, ia dilihat sangat sukar untuk memenangi kejuaraan liga.Ditanya mengenai analisis Pique, jurulatih Barcelona, Quique Setien menganggap apa yang diluahkan oleh pemainnya itu lebih kepada kekecewaan.
"Saya rasa dia berkata begitu sebab dia kecewa. Saya masih optimis. Saya rasa ia akan menjadi sukar untuk semua orang bagi mencari mata maksimum," kata Setien. Sementara itu, satu mata dianggap sangat berharga buat Sevilla apabila boleh menjarakkan diri dengan Getafe di atas kelebihan lima mata.
