Jordan Czichos, pastor of evangelism at Houston First United Methodist Church, poses for a photograph Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Platypus Brewing in Houston. Czichos started the youth group called"Where are we Wednesdays.” Members meet at different breweries around Houston and talk about faith over a beer. She will impart ashes at the brewery on Ash Wednesday at 7 p.m.
“We talk about Scripture, how it relates to our lives and ask questions,” said Czichos who serves as pastor of evangelism at the church.— was brainstorming with the church’s teaching pastor Ken Coneby. During the Wednesday brewery sessions, she asks for prayer requests and reminds participants that everyone needs support. Ash Wednesday is especially meaningful to Czichos. “It’s a time that reminds people of their trust in God. It draws us back to our humanity and God’s divinity,” she said.
“I was definitely looking for young adult groups,” said Kroon, who lives in the Heights. “There are few churches in Houston that seem to have a strong young adult ministry.”
