The National Sea Rescue Institute is seeking the public’s assistance in recovering a stolen pink rescue buoy that was reported missing from Strand Beach on 22 May.
The NSRI shared a video on its official Facebook account titled ‘PRB Stolen from Strand Beach’ with a caption stating, ‘We know of 150 people who have been rescued with the help of a Pink Rescue Buoy. If you know where this one is, we would greatly appreciate it being returned to us.’The NSRI, renowned for ensuring beachgoers’ safety and preventing drowning incidents along the South African coastline, has been actively deploying pink rescue buoys at popular beaches.
These bright pink flotation devices have proven instrumental in saving countless lives, providing a lifeline to individuals in distress. The stolen PRB had been installed at Strand Beach, serving as an essential tool for potential rescue operations. Its removal raises concerns regarding the safety of beach users and the potential impact on future emergency situations.
