Boutique Hub’s event on Nov. 22 highlights local retailers.
Jennifer McRay of Kismet in downtown Los Gatos is one of the 8,000 boutique owners nationwide, largely owned by women, who belong to the Boutique Hub, billed as the world’s largest boutique industry community. McRay helped organize a Pink Friday event, set for Nov. 22 in Los Gatos, for those who want to do their holiday shopping early and support local retailers. There are thousands of boutiques across the nation, and many are barely hanging on.
McRay points out that between the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing consumer shift to e-shopping, small boutiques are really struggling.
