The honor at Pinewood Toronto Studios comes one year after the filmmaker behind ‘In The Heat of the Night’ and ‘Moonstruck’ passed away.

Pinewood Studios in the U.K., but the London-based studio group is honoring the seven-time Oscar nominee in his hometown, Toronto. Jewison also earned the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in 1999.

“Pinewood Toronto is proud to celebrate the legacy of Canadian filmmaker Norman Jewison. His groundbreaking work was renowned throughout the world and it is an honor to have The Norman Jewison Stage on our lot,” Sarah Farrell, general manager of Pinewood Toronto Studios, said in a statement on Monday.

The Toronto studio complex is also near to The Canadian Film Centre, which Jewison launched in 1988 for advanced film studies.having had a long-term lease on four of its soundstages, and Amazon MGM Studios in Jan. 2024 unveiling a contract with the Toronto studio campus for the exclusive use of five soundstages, alongside workshops and office space totaling around 160,000 square feet.
