, Bucks County, killing both men on board, was doing maneuvers at 2,000 feet in preparation for his commercial pilot practical exam, the National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday in a preliminary report on the incident.
Brian Filippini, 55, of Philadelphia, who owned the 1965 built Beech 35-C33 plane, had already completed the written examination in his quest for the license, the NTSB said. He took off on the instructional flight just before 4:30 p.m. from Doylestown Airport and the plane went into a left spin close to 5 p.m. beforeAlfred George Piranian, 74, of Chalfont in Bucks County, was Filippini’s flight instructor.The plane burst into flames as it crashed upright near Penn Ridge Middle School. The cockpit and cabin “were mostly consumed by fire,” the NTSB said.
