The senior intercepted three passes in the Warriors ' 49-35 win over New Braunfels last week to help Pieper keep firm control of District 13 -5A-I as the season enters its final stretch. With the win over the Unicorns , Pieper is the lone unbeaten team in the district and has already defeated the three teams directly below it in the standings.
Hopper's strong performance earned him Express-News defensive player of the week honors Monday, and Warriors fans took it from there, casting 240 votes to help him win the weekly poll over fellow finalists William Reynolds of Wagner and Azteca Crawford of Boerne Champion. Reynolds ran wild in a 42-28 win over Victoria East, rushing for 336 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Two of his touchdowns were longer than 60 yards. Reynolds was named offensive player of the week.
