Piedmont’s just-passed March 5 Measure F increased the rate and length of Piedmont’s parcel tax based on the analysis and recommendations of the city’s Budget Advisory Committee, seen in a recent meeting above. With more than 75% of Piedmont voters having approved the city’s March 5 Measure F as of Monday, Piedmont officials and supporters of the City Services Tax renewal have declared it victorious.
In 2024, the measure included two crucial changes from previous years: the expansion from a four-year to a 12-year term and a roughly 20% increase in the parcel tax that will result in a tax increase of $11 to $19 per month for most property owners. “We operate with a very lean staffing model, so we are always looking for ways we can use technology as a force multiplier,” said Schneider.
“Public safety is one of those areas, and our Number One strategy is to invest in our 911 dispatch service and staffing levels. With a great deal of public discussion, we asked what would best improve our ability to meet community needs, and this was identified as important.” Important to city planners and managers across the board is what occurs when you rely on a 12-year term instead of a four-year term for revenues, Moore said.
“Our council chose two months ago to do a leap of faith and added approval for additional ALPRs because the need was identified as a significant priority.”
