📷 [PHOTOS] Denver Post staff photographer hrichardson sought out some of the most colorful holiday performances and light displays in Denver and Aurora this year, to bring you this collection of holiday scenes on Christmas Day.
Santa Claus, aka Terry McGurk, arrives for Christmas celebrations during the annual tree lighting ceremony at the Aurora Municipal Center on Dec. 6, 2022, in Aurora. This year’s event included holiday-themed activities such as dance performances from Aurora Dance Arts, the illumination of thousands of sparkling lights with the the lighting of the trees surrounding the center, hot cocoa and cookies as well as a visit from Santa Claus who arrived on an antique fire engine.
Children wear 3-D glasses to experience the decorative lights in a fun way among the Christmas decorations during the annual tree lighting ceremony at the Aurora Municipal Center on Dec. 6, 2022, in Aurora. A decorated Ferris Wheel is up and running for rides at Luminova Holidays on Dec. 19, 2022, in Denver. Luminova Holidays featured at Elitch Gardens includes a variety of holiday events to look at or take part in, including over 4 million lights displayed throughout the park, a 65 ft. Christmas tree and 25 ft. snowman, a 300 ft. candy cane tunnel, displays of ornaments and presents scaling over 16 ft.
