San Antonio designer helps couple transform the kitchen in their Winchester Hills home into a stylish black-and-white space with lots of cool new gadgets.
Gina and Chad Christenson have lived in their early-’90s Winchester Hills home since 2003, slowly but surely fixing it up, room by room as finances allow. They did much of the reno work themselves, occasionally calling in experts for jobs above their pay grade. “It was all a matter of budget,” Gina Christenson said. “When we first moved in, Chad was in the military, and I was a school teacher. We didn’t have a whole lot of money for renovations.
Boerne redesign combines Hill Country and French aesthetics “I did a lot of research and went back and forth on the color scheme,” said Gina Christenson, who listens to design podcasts and regularly scours Pinterest. “A lot of people say, don't do white; it's too stark. Others say it’s timeless and you can’t go wrong with it.” She leapt. “I have a little bit of a weird taste,” she said. “I like things that are a little bit different.
Reno includes creamy white kitchen, custom vanity and 'rocket ship' shower “That's a big trend these days,” Ulibarri said. “Creating devices so you don’t have to bend down and dig into the cabinet to find something.” In the corner cabinets, for example, where hard-to-reach space often goes unused, they installed shelving that pulls out and pivots to take advantage of every inch of storage.
