The Gaza strip in flames, glitter all over the Labour leader, counting swans and some stunning blooms it's been an interesting if distressing week in pictures. Here we bring you the best of the week.

Some truly heart-rending pictures have come across our desk this week including an elderly Jewish woman taken hostage in a golf cart, or medics carrying bloodied babies from the Gaza rubble or treating them on the floor of an overcrowded hospital. It's been hard not to populate the whole of this week's gallery with these images but fortunately there have been some lighter moments too.
