The Camp Fire killed 85 people and destroyed 14,000 homes, and much of the attention afterward focused on the scorched town of Paradise. Residents of smaller neighboring communities, such as Concow, tell CapRadioNews they feel forgotten.

Friday marks one year since the most deadly and destructive wildfire in California history. The Camp Fire killed 85 people and destroyed nearly 19,000 structures, including 14,000 homes. Much of the attention since the fire has focused on the town of Paradise, which was decimated. As for smaller neighboring communities such as Concow, many residents feel their voices have been lost and forgotten.
Sarah Bohannon with North State Public Radio in Chico talked to Concow residents about how they're doing a year removed from the Camp Fire, and CapRadio Photojournalist Andrew Nixon documented a day in the life of two families. John and Teri Rubiolo prepare meals for their neighbors who are still struggling a year after the fire.
