Tom Wills is retiring and his last newscast is the 6:00pm news on Friday, May 31.
Charity events, community gatherings and time with co-workers, there’s one person who has been by Tom’s side to capture those times on camera -- News Director Kathryn Bonfield .
Bonfield came to News4JAX in 2011. Over her 13 years as News Director, she’s witnessed Tom’s dedication to the station, his dedication to Jacksonville, and his dedication to stories that makes a difference.“Working with Tom has always been an honor and a privilege. We have all benefited from his exceptional journalism and heartfelt commitment to our community,” Bonfield said.
Tom and Kathryn have a special bond. In fact, you could say, these two together are a force -- making many decisions together that made The Local Station what it is today.Bonfield first worked with Tom when she was an intern from the University of Florida. Then, years later as his boss.“Tom is newsroom magic and makes everyone around him better. From my days as an intern to collaborating on award-winning projects, he is a mentor and a friend,” Bonfield said.
