Hundreds of students and performers are downtown for the La Frontera Tucson International Mariachi Conference at the Tucson Convention Center, April 19-23. Since 1983, it has been one of the nation's premiere events to train young musicians and dancers....
More than 900 students are enrolled in the Mariachi and Folklorico workshops this year.
The annual conference, which runs from through Sunday, is capped by the Espectacular Concert on Saturday, which includes performances by Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School alumnus Giselle-Paris Aubrey and Mariachi Vargas celebrating their 125th anniversary together with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
