A 75-year-old St. George woman is warning others to stay vigilant this holiday season after her wallet, containing her phone and credit cards, was stolen from her shopping cart.
Waltz was using a wallet-phone case hybrid, meaning her credit cards and phone could be grabbed in one go. Mitchell noted that during the holiday season, busy stores and distracted shoppers provide ideal opportunities for thieves. “Honestly, I feel really stupid,” she said. “I’m 75. I should know better. But they had to have been watching me. My phone was visible in the top of my purse, and they just grabbed it. I feel so violated.”“Don’t leave your wallet, purse, or phone in the child seat of a cart,” Mitchell said. “Keep your bag on your person and make sure it’s secure. Be aware of who is around you and what they’re doing.
