Phone call illustrates man was paid $50K to release minks at Pa. fur farm: state police

SUNBURY — One of two Massachusetts residents charged with releasing nearly 700 mink from a Northumberland County fur farm may have been paid $50,000 to do so,

The allegation about the $50,000 payment is based on a telephone call Legere made on Oct. 19 from the Northumberland County Jail. The Stahls followed and observed a backpack, work gloves and sweatshirt being thrown from the Subaru. They were later recovered by state police. On the other side, according to that document, were directions on how to get out of Pennsylvania and head north to Vermont.Pair of work gloves and a lock-picking kit in the backpack that had been discarded.
